WIPS during Corvid 19
As the last few days have been crazy the Corvid - 19 pandemic I thought I would share my experiences as I miss working directly with my students and with spending so many hours/days in the house.
Important to note - names of resources are active links (I am playing around with these so if one does not work let me know so I can repair it)
Teacher's moments
Last Thursday the administration warned teachers to prepare for the possibility of distance learning if the Corvid-19 becomes more serious in the states. So walking through the halls to a meeting in the front of the school I felt overwhelmed with the ideas that the students would not be roaming the halls in the near future. Two hours later I was returning to my classroom and I had the feeling this was the last time I would be in the building for a while. I spent two hours after the school day ended packing the remaining units for both classes I teach to ensure I can try to stay with the unit designs as much as possible. Friday morning as soon as I finished walking my beautiful Fawn Greyhound I my phone blew up with notifications that school was canceled for today and the plan was for teachers to come in on Monday for training on distance teaching. by Sunday night it was declared school buildings were closed entirely.
Tools I already use for hybrid learning
1. EdPuzzle- teacher selects videos, can edit length of video and can create or edit questions based on the video which are spread out throughout the video. (app grades based on teacher id the correct answer)
2. WizerMe - app allows me to organize a webquest, provide various interactive questions for the students to answer (app grades based on teacher id the correct answer)
3. Learn 360 - lots of videos and tutorials. app does grade assignment
and students have to take a screen shot of the activity grade as I can not see their grades otherwise. (be aware that your school district should have their own log on method)
How I am staying busy besides distant teaching...
With the drastic change of mandatory social distancing and I am sure we will be moving towards shelter-in-place very soon, I thought i would benefit from direction/organization of the various crafts I have to work on for the next few weeks.

Knit WIPS
2. knit - shawl from very soft yarn (a simple knit for a few rows and lacy holes in one row, repeat) triangle).

Cross Stitch WIPS
1. cross stitch - Winter Village from Little House Needle Works (along with Fat Quarter Shop). this is my first project that is so large in a long time. I am a few months behind but am encouraged that others who are following along with FQS's #wintervillagefqs montlhy projectn are also at the same or similar place at the moment.

2. cross stitch - Home Grown - quarterly cross stitch kit from Fat Quarter Shop

3. cross stitch - Home of a Needleworker - from little house needleworks
4. cross stitch - bloomtopia (FQS)
this is the first project I have tried to stitch in hand and it might be a challenge since it is on 20 count aida.
5. cross stitch - chemistry mystery (my own design - still waiting on supplies before I get started) no pictures yet
Quilt WIPS
1. quilt piecing- Moda Block Heads III ( i am behind but will strive to catch up)
2. quilt piecing - bloomtopia (FQT) - i bought the entire kit and am cutting up the release five (kit had all the releases already printed) currently I am focusing on this quilt top and once i get this one I will move onto the others below. I must admit some of these blocks have required date nights with Mr. jack as I did not starch the material ahead of time and have to pay close attention to my cutting and placement.
3. quilt piecing - 100 city blocks by tula pink started this back in feb and hope to be able to complete more blocks at some point

4. quilt piecing- quarantine quilt along (this coming saturday/released via facebook) - going to use the first fat quarter set i bought two years ago. will provide pictures before sunday
5. quilt - make my first project bag to help organize cross stitch WIPS. what has been holding me back is the fear of sewing on zippers. silly fear but I will try to find some time this weekend to overcome this fear..
Weaving WIPs
1. belt on a small belka loom
House WIPS
12. Plants - grow veggies and herbs outside to be a tad bit self sufficient.
13. bread - bought yeast and flours to make my own bread again
14. house - steadily work on cleaning and organizing the house.
there might be more projects in my head but this is all that I will focus on for the next 8 weeks or so..
