Feb 22 Xstitch progress
Current Projects
1. 2022 WIPGO- I am doing a year of smalls to have small pillows/ornaments to put on the mantle and to use up scraps. these two are completed on a random scrap of Color and Cotton cloth (scrap grab bag bought in 2021) and most likely 28 ct. Thread is DMC 4515 and 4504. Patterns are xmas extras from Linen and Thread SOL 2021 feb and march releases. #DMCthreads #colorandcotton, #foxandrabbit #linenandthreads2021SALIt was stitched on a random color and cotton 28 even weave scrap purchased in 2021. Thread is weeks dye works that I had on hand and I am waiting to see if I can find buttons to fill the blank spaces on each bird (especially since my creative ones did not come with buttons!)
3. Laura Duet 1962 - After watching Stitching 911 and Modern Folk Embroidery YouTube videos on stitching samplers, specifically red samplers I began to look at variegated DMC and other threads to find a red I might enjoy to use. I did find a box of variegated thread and discovered DMC 115 was a neat red and so I began the free red sampler Laura Duet designed by Fox and Rabbit (designed as a gift for a very close friend of theirs on the person's birthday).
I chose to work on Colour and Cotton 28 ct even weave (Willow color) and to use DMC 115 (2 threads). I have completed the first alphabet and the border. the plan is to finish the next alphabet and border in March. #foxandrabbitlauraduet
4. Seasons 2022 SAL (Linen&Threads/Fox&Rabbit) - I was being hard on myself for not finishing the January frame to discover my center frame was off by at least three rows so it was alright that I did not finish the frame. Now the Frog had to arriv eat my house for some time (he seems to come and go this week). I still have some stitching to complete but I can now redo the border that was messed up and will complete feb portion this weekend.
I stitched each part with Colour and Cotton prim color thread on (chosen colors are :
- Cinders (inner line)
- gunmetal (winter, upper left)
- Hazel (spring, upper right)
- olde santa (summer, bottom right)
- Honey Amber (fall, bottom left)
5. Pandemic LDS - continued work on this product finally shows 25% complete in the pattern keeper app I am using to keep track of my work. The area I worked on this month is the center medallion with the two deer, flowers sticking up, a butterfly and a bird. My plan for march is to move down the right corner to finish that medallion and the border. I am using Silks4U thread.
Some fully finished objects
1. Be My Valentine by Stitching with the Housewives. started Feb 10 and finished Feb 13 (just in time).
Was completed on a scrap of 14 ct aida and used weeks dye works I had on hand. I used sticky board and magnets to connect the product to the metal tin found at Target dollar corner over 6 months ago. I then filled the tin with roses my spouse has given me in the years (he is allergic to roses so I have a small collection of cloth roses and thought this would be a neat way to gather them all in one spot). The pink strip cloth on the back is from the Stitching with the Housewives strip finishing cloth set.
Plan is to also finish the Spring/Winter/Summer/Fall checkered patterns released in Primitive Stitcher and Punch Needle Magazine for 2021 (winter is already completed just not ffo yet)
2. Fall 2020 FQS Stitch Quarterly - I had stitched this pattern in 2020 but had not fully finished it until this last weekend. I stitched it on 14 count aida instead of the kit cloth and used the thread provided in the kit. I found the pumpkin board at a dollar store (or target dollar corner?) and promptly hid the board from myself thus why I did not finish last fall. After cleaning up my stitching corner in the living room I discovered the board and went straight to the sewing room (where I keep the finishing materials) and fully finished it!! So at least it will be ready for displaying fall 2022.
A new batch of sticky board, dots and tape have arrived so I plan on having a lot more items finished next month.
